Chris’ Favorite Quotes:
You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’ You must do the thing you think you cannot do.

“I do not like to write, but I love having written.”

Guest Speaker: Sarah Galvin 1) Where are you in your doctoral program?

2) Tell us about your research – what do you study?

  • Why is it important to advancing the  “Mind, Media & Learning” knowledge base?
  • This week we wrestled with Social Writing, Literacies & New Forms of Scholarship and tried to think about the cognitive, social, and emotional issues these phenomena raise for educational research with the rise of social media.
  • What should we as educational psychology and educational technology researchers be studying with respect to these topics?
  • Given your response from last year (pasted at the end of this email), do you have anything to add or change or new insights now?

3) Cover letter email. We read your sample cover letter

  • Tell us about your process of selecting the journal and writing the sample cover letter email
  • Did you send the cover letter? What happened?

4) Publishing process: from outline to final draft

  • The next assignment is to produce a FIRST DRAFT of your article manuscript.
  • What tips do you have for writing the first draft?
  • How should we get the most out of this assignment?

5) Was your article from CEP 956 published? Where?

  • Did the publishing process go smoothly for you?
  • What was the most challenging part?
  • What advice would you have for us or anything else you want to say about your success in turning this course assignment into a successful publication?

6) Is there anything else you’d like to say either regarding Mind, Media and Learning OR Publishing?

**These are just suggestions. Modify as you wish 🙂
