Email Announcement: Week 1
9/13/20
Hi Everyone,
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow night for our first synchronous CEP 956 class meeting: Monday, September 14, 2020 from 6-8:50pm. I decided that we should start together with an orientation to the course before having you work independently; therefore, no work for this class last week!
Tomorrow night we will use this Zoom link: https://msu.zoom.us/j/2314762101
Attached is the course SYLLABUS, which I will go over in detail tomorrow night.
COURSE OVERVIEW: In this course, we will be drawing on an interdisciplinary and emerging base of research and our own experiences to take a critical and informed approach to evaluating contemporary social media practices found in the everyday lives of students as well as those used in classrooms. To learn more about the course overview, please read the course website’s home page: http://greenhow.educ.msu.edu/cep956fs20/
**NOTE: We are still working on the course site so keep that in mind as you review it.
COURSE WEBSITE
The website will serve as our hub for our collective exploration. By tomorrow night, this is where you will find links to the course syllabus, master schedule, weekly schedule pages, links to all readings, online discussion forum for our asynchronous weeks, and much of what you will need for this course. An important part of the course will be your reflections on your own use of social media as learners, scholars, teachers, activists, and policy makers, and on your learning to craft a publishable article.
You should have gotten an email asking you to login to the WordPress course site. Please try to login to the course website before class tomorrow night.

SOCIAL MEDIA: PLEASE EMAIL YOUR ANSWER TO 3 QUESTIONS by tomorrow night, if possible:
1) Which social media do you currently use and feel comfortable using?
2) Which social media do you want to learn more about?
3) Is there any social media that would not want to use as a student in this class?
Thanks so much. Any questions, please let me know. See you tomorrow night!
Chris
