Hello everyone! It was great meeting you Chris and Madison! I’m also happy to take a course with Brittney again. I enjoyed our first class and hoping to have a great conversations with you on media and learning during the semester.
I’m from Ankara, Turkey. After starting to college, I’ve moved to Istanbul and lived there for 9 years. I’ve got my bachelor’s and master’s degree on science education from Bogazici University. During my studies in Turkey, I basically worked on how we can support pre-service science teachers to teach nature of science in their elementary science classrooms. I also worked as an informal science teacher in a science center for a year.
Now, I am a second year Ph.D. student in the Curriculum, Instruction, and Teacher Education (CITE). I’m working with Joe Krajcik and our research is based on a project-based learning in elementary science classrooms. This is also the 2nd year in my research assistantship and it goes well so far. My research interests cover philosophy/nature of science, project-based learning in science education context, and the influence of identity and media resources (especially the channels of artificial intelligence) on learning.
Through this course, I hope I can have a broader and another perspective on learning. Last year, I learned about sociocultural learning theories and this semester including media and components on learning is exciting for me! Widen my perspective on learning and having a publication out of it quite motivating for me.
Hi Selin,
Wow, you have a wealth of experiences in Science education. I share your interest in the influence of identity and media on learning. I am especially interested in how social media can facilitate teens’ identity work and the kinds of identity work that young people perform in social media spaces.

Your interests in widening your perspective on learning and in publishing seem like great fits for this course!
