Hi Everyone,
Welcome to the advanced doctoral course CEP 956: Mind, Media & Learning! I look forward to seeing you Wednesday night for our orientation and first synchronous online class meeting: Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 6-8:50pm Eastern Standard Time (and on alternating Mondays after this).

COURSE WEBSITE
The website will serve as our hub for our collective exploration. By Wednesday night, this is where you will find links to the course syllabus, master schedule, weekly schedule pages, links to all readings, online discussion forum for our asynchronous weeks, and much of what you will need for this course. An important part of the course will be your reflections on your own use of social media/media use as learners, scholars, teachers, activists, and policy makers, and on your learning to craft a publishable article.
You should have gotten an email asking you to login to the WordPress course site. Please try to login to the course website as soon as possible but before class on Wednesday night.

**NOTE: I am still working on the course site so the banner and other aspects are in draft form. Thanks for keeping that in mind as you review it.
COURSE OVERVIEW: In this course, we will be drawing on an interdisciplinary and emerging base of research and our own experiences to take a critical and informed approach to evaluating contemporary social media practices found in the everyday lives of students as well as those used in classrooms. 3) Is there any social media that would not want to use as a student in this class?
CREATE A GRAVATAR IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY by tomorrow night
You have all been added to the course site, and everyone needs to set up a gravatar for the class if you don’t already see your photo there. A gravatar is essentially a picture of you that follows you from wordpress site to wordpress site. You need to have the gravatar associated with your MSU email account.
To do this:
1) Go to https://en.gravatar.com/
2) Click “Sign In”
3a) If you have a gravatar account under a non-MSU email you can log in and add your MSU email to the account.
3b) If you have a gravatar account under a MSU email address, log in using that
3c) If you don’t have a gravatar account, click “Need an Account” and set up an account using your MSU email address
4) Follow instructions for setting up your gravatar
