I use several social media resources such as Facebook, Linkedin, Telegram, Instagram and Youtube. Since this social media is one of the important parts of our social life, it helps me to keep pace with the times. Generally, social media is a tool for me to communicate, share personal/professional experiences and exchange ideas from a distance. However, I use each social media for different purposes. While Telegram and Youtube are useful tools for the teaching process, Facebook and Linkedin help me in professional communication, and Instagram for just entertainment and sharing. I use mostly specialized websites and Youtube, and rarely Facebook (due to accessibility and stability in our country) for learning.
As it helps me connect with others by the network, it becomes a place for socialization and communication (Manca & Ranieri 2013, p 488). Also, it is one of the useful ways to connect instantly with my students, because many students are already using them for socialization and communication purposes. (Manca & Ranieri 2013, p 489)
For instance, I created a class group in a Telegram to have more connections with my students, mostly after classes. Because creating art is a time-consuming process and mostly they cannot finish their artwork in a class. However, when they pass some stage of creation later, they upload the artwork and get feedback not only from me but also from their classmates. This communication is essential to reach a goal for a short time. At this point, I prefer Telegram to Facebook. The reason is Telegram does not break the concentration, because there is not any feeds or news to watch or read, there is only a group. It is necessary when your auditory is school students.
In my opinion, concentration is one of the essentials in the learning process and it requires avoiding attention-grabbing things. An offering of an abundance of materials, including unnecessaries, I think, hinders Facebook to use it as a main educational tool. For example, when I want to learn something, I just close all social media, to concentrate on the topic. Moreover, when I want to just check my SM accounts, I find that I have already spent an hour here.

I was not familiar with Telegram so it was good for me to read your posting! Very impressive that “Telegram does not break the concentration, because there is not any feeds or news to watch or read, there is only a group. It is necessary when your auditory is school students.” As I read your posting, I came to more realize that social media can be utilized differently depending on the subject/field you teach or are involved in, and also depending on different affordances that social media have. I also fully agree with your thoughts on what’s preventing Facebook from being used as a learning tool, attention-grabbing.
